Success and Happiness

             In the world full of uncertainties, possibilities, surprises, lies people around. People who willing to strive from what it called as “success”. There are also some people that also exploring this world for the word “happiness”. For me, myself, I am searching for both word “success” and “happiness”. In Indonesia, there is a proverb saying that “If you are not knowing the people that is either talking, writing, or seeing you right now, then you will not get any love.” My name is Jeremy Gerald Prawira. People usually called me, Jeremy, Jeje, Gege, or anything with what people comfortable to. People usually know me as somebody that is in his phone at any time, either messaging or playing games or even doing serious thing such as research. But in all seriousness, I am also a known for being so funny with people near me. But being funny and other stuff are not enough to get both happiness and success. That is why, as I grow into the age where college is essential, I decided to go into one of my best option available, President University.

                Choosing President University as a place for me to gain knowledge is something that I can do easily. It is because of how I can see myself being a promising individual in upcoming years by attending President University. Beforehand, it will be not good enough to not knowing about the university itself. President University itself is a private university strategically located in Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java. The usage of “strategically” is something that without base. The location of the university itself is very excellent when it comes to the post-university moment, or even the internship moment. It is located in Cikarang where, it lies one of the biggest industrial area in Indonesia or according to GoKampus.com, it is said as one of the biggest in Southeast Asia. The word “biggest” and “industrial” are probably quite reassuring enough. In an article of JababekaResidence.com, there are multiple multinational companies in the industrial area. Companies like Unilever, Mattel, Samsung, and others are lying on the industrial area. How people are not choosing this university, I wonder?

                Another reason is, they have given me what probably the world hardly to give, which is “opportunity”. People like me are unlikely to get the into the university because of problem like language proficiency, or even financial problem. But luckily, the fortune god has given people like me the opportunity to go to the precious school with one way that everyone needed. Yes, scholarship. There is various way to get the scholarship from the President University. Either from test, report, or even the National Examination of Indonesia. It gives me opportunities to get into the university, with sufficient finance. It is not only me, but there are so many people around Indonesia could get something like this.

                There is another reason on why I get to attend President University which is, language. Most of Indonesian university are using Indonesian. Of course, it does make sense in a way people are living in Indonesia. But the ability, skill to be fluent in multiple languages is commonly searched in this world. Not only in Indonesia, but in the whole world. But what the world needs primarily is English. The most used, the language that the whole world should have known. President University has a big advantage on it. The university uses English as the first language in the campus environment. It is meant to adapt well during internship, or even post-university moment. The ability of speaking in English is definitely essential in the future, and even now.

                While all of those reason being said, I cannot only stop here. There is a major that I should choose too. A choice that will make my future for 4 years, or even more than it. In choices that I make, I choose Information Technology as my major in this precious university. The reason why I choose this in President University is because of the accreditation of it, which sometimes is hardly found near West Java. The accreditation gained by President University for Information Technology major is A, the highest. It makes the major is considered one of the best major in President University environment.

                Well, a reason for me to choose Information Technology is simple. It is because future. Future holds the two words that I strive, “happiness” and “success”. According to majority of people in the world, they believe that technology holds the future. Information Technology itself, grabs it instantly on my eyes. Information Technology is commonly known as a major to create beautiful technology, from application like Facebook, and then games, either in laptop or mobile, and even the future itself, AI (Artificial Intelligence). As I see it in that way, I want to see it more in a way I can help people. They said, with great power, ability comes also great responsibility. It is no use to say on how much job opportunities will I get from this because it is so promising. Therefore, there are countless jobs would be available from it. But from this technology, I have intention on helping people from it. Technology is not something that can be used for personal use something. There is countless problem in the world, not to forget about the problem in the future. With technology on human side, there will be problems can be solved from it. That would be more or less my reason on choosing this major.

                After I get to choose both President University and Information Technology, I attend the university.

                The first year I am studying in President University is unique. Not forgetting to mention the condition of the world right now because of COVID-19, it forces student to study through online. It is tough at the beginning, but in the end it is easy. It comes after the help of the lecturer from my university as well. In this first semester that I experienced, there are six subjects that I learned right now. All the subjects are introductory of course. I am glad because all of the lecturer who is teaching me is really kind, willing to help when being asked. I am also happy with my classmates who are cooperative when given the works by lecturer.

                That is my life during this kind of time. There are some things that may have not being sad in here, but I never regret my choice on both attending President University and choosing Information Technology as my major. It is one of my best choice In 2020 and might be for the future years.
